US-Based Nigerian Doctor, Ikenna Erinne, K$lls Himself Over $15,000 Child Support
A 36-year-old United States-based Nigerian cardiologist, Ikenna Erinne, has reportedly committed su!cide after losing a child support case to his ex-wife. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 26.
The Anambra-state-born late doctor had a prolonged divorce battle with his estranged wife, including the custody of their children. He, however, lost the case after a US court ruled in favour of his ex-wife and ordered him to pay a monthly child support of $15,000.
Confirming the incident in a post shared on X a Nigerian-American, Clayton Udo, said the court’s verdict took a severe financial toll on him, leading to his tragic death.
He wrote, “The abuse of African men in the USA must come to an end. In a deeply troubling case, Dr. Ikenna Erinne, an American-trained cardiologist, allegedly took his own life after an American court ordered him to pay his ex-wife $15,000 monthly, following a prolonged and contentious divorce case. This tragic incident highlights the systemic issues within the legal system that disproportionately affect African men.”
Udo, who claimed to be an expert in psychological and mental abuse, revealed that the deceased had spent thousands of dollars in legal fees before the court’s verdict turned out in favour of his ex-wife.
He further explained that the late doctor lost his license as a cardiologist to the case, adding that he died after shooting himself.
“He sh.ot himself to dea.th. He spent thousands of dollars in legal fees – wasted money. I am talking about a process that impoverishes you. You go to court and they take all your money.
“He lost his license as a cardiologist in this case plus they slammed on him 15,000 dollars a month plus restricted access to his children,” he added.
Born on March 4, 1988, Dr. Erinne is survived by his children Ugonna and Munachi, parents Engr. Chris and Mrs. Chinwe Erinne, and siblings Chuks, Onyi, Kenny, and Gechi.
Amanda Chisom Gives Brief History Of Ikenna Erinne
So This Ikenna I know, and he did not marry a white woman, he had children with an igbo girl, Francis Van lare's daughter. They were not married, because if he was we will hear. He called off the wedding. Because of his family and that he is my own , I will honour his memory and wish him a good sail.
Ikenna was always too quiet for his own good. So quiet, if you push Ikenna, he will walk away, one of the most intelligent student in my set. Imagine a set with so many intelligent top select students, then imagine being top 5 in that set. Ikenna was very quiet, unassuming and a gift to his generation.
My greatest sympathy lies with his family because I know what it takes to raise a son like Ikenna from Navy to schooling in the USA from Bachelors degree to becoming a Cardiologist. Only for it to end like this. May his soul find the peace that was denied him. Aunty, you go pay the support alone now. Congratulations.
Sail on Sailor, may the seas and wind guide you home.
Dr Ikenna Erinne's Father In-law Reacts To Amanda Chisom's Post
Amanda Chisom posted this on her page . While there was a custody battle my daughter is involved in and I only became aware last Monday morning about 3 am Nigerian time that the deceased held her and her children at gu.n point for three hours after losing a custody battle, the nanny managed to escape and called the police and on arrival of the police he s.hot himself de.ad. I guess he decided to k.ill himself instead of facing three counts of kid.napping with a de.adly weapon 25 years to life each.
While I sympathize with his family for his de.ath, my daughter is not responsible for him taking his own life and I thank God it did not degenarate to where he shoo.ts my daughter, grand children and himself .
May his soul rest in peace. Everyone is loser here and it is traumatizing for all including me.
Ikenna Erinne's Ex Father In-law, Francis Van Lare Sets The Records Straight, Says Dr Ikenna Erinne Did Not Lose His Licence
To set records straight . Dr Ikenna Erinne’s licence was never revoked . He has active licenses in Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Maryland so one state cannot revoke all licenses at once though none was revoked .
The child support was set that much because he has a physically challenged son needing special care from different medical facilities plus attending a special needs school that cost money and courts consider income of both parents before making decisions .
He is not a victim but failed his son and daughter now without their father . I just thank God he did not sh.oot my daughter and grand children in his madness .
Which sane person tak es his o.wn l.ife over money he is supposed to use to support his children? He was asked to pay child support not alimony or spousal support as my daughter is self sufficient.
May his soul rest in peace regardless . My family will raise the children without him regardless.
