Some Abuja actors have decided to stop complaining about unfair casting practices and do something about it by becoming EPs and producing a feature film to showcase themselves to the world.
From man-know-man favoritism to middle men cutting their pay to indecent proposals in exchange for roles to mostly calls for extras roles and few chances to be featured, some actors are embarking on a journey that many have warned can’t be done, but also which many fear may be a wild success.
While actors pooling resources to put up a production is an endeavor as old as the dawn of mankind, actor Linda Obasi has created user-friendly workflow templates and a contract agreement covering all the areas that normally result in disputes that halt shared productions in their tracks. With an agreement finalized, signed by all and notarized by a reputable legal firm, actors and artists are free to shine and create within clear financial and legal boundaries.
With the workflow templates and agreement freely circulated via countless WhatsApp movie groups, actors throughout the country immediately began utilizing them.
Groups of actors in Lagos, Abuja and Anambra are currently utilizing the templates with some exploitive film novices already misusing them to defraud actors.
Linda Obasi is not legally liable for the results of the use of her templates and agreement by any third party. She urges actors to do their due diligence and read every line of any document carefully, with the advice of a lawyer, before signing.
How are things going with this flagship group of EP-Actors in Abuja? Actors adapting to being executive producers is no mean feat, but these Boss Actors are up to the challenge.
