My names are Dr Micheal Adeyemi Adeniran, I am a father of a 12 years old Whitney Adeniran who died at chrisland International high school, Opebi, Lagos inter house sport at agege stadium. On 9th /2/2023 . my daughter name is (Whitney Adeniran).

it happened that my daughter attend CHRISLAND HIGH SCHOOL and it was their inter-house sport event yesterday (Thursday) February 9th 2023 and she dressed up from home, healthy with no health conditions or sickness at all, the school bus came to pick her up to the venue of the event at Agege stadium,

To the biggest shock of my life by 1pm in the afternoon I got a call from my wife that she was informed that our daughter slumped at the inter house sport and she was rushed to the clinic.....

My wife was at the venue even before she started.

She was never informed or call untill they have conveyed our child out of the venue before they informed her.

On arrival of my wife at the health center where they took my daughter. my daughter was lying dead With her lips black and her tongue black.

My wife called me urgently, I left my office to the place and found my 12year old daughter lying dead on ground. I asked question for what happened to my daughter and the school authority could not get me any information as to what happened to my child in their care.

I gave chrisland school a healthy vibrant young girl what Chrisland return to me is a dead child. My entire family is in deep sorrow but the school Authority claimed they know nothing about my daughter death and all they know is that my daughter slumped and died.

For the general information of the public chrisland school held such a magnificent event without a simple fully equiped Ambulance, no paramedics, medical personnel or no safety corps, no paramedic except a school quack nurse . Who later confess to me that the child died even at stadium but she can not pronounce her dead because she is not a Doctor.

My question is what happen to my daughter at agege stadium. As a father I demand answer from chrisland international high school. I am in deep pain and sorrow right now. If you are a father you will understand my pain. My daughter is highly loved by us. We cherished her existence and we can never allow and institution to gloss over the death of our daughter.

Since we started asking this question . The school has been asking us to back down from autopsy and I know they know their way into the system.

Mother Of Whitney Adeniran, Chrisland Student Who Died During Inter House Sports Cries Out

A Nigerian mum, Mrs Blessing Adeniran is demanding answers from the management of Chrisland High School in Lagos state after her 12-year-old daughter, Desola Whitney Adeniran, slumped and died while attending the school's Interhouse sports held at the Agege Stadium last Thursday, February 9.

In a video posted online, the distraught mum said she was at the event to watch her daughter participate. She said she became worried when she didn't see her daughter during the match past as well as other sporting events. Mrs. Adeniran said she decided to go where the students were all kept to check on her child. She said it was while she was there that she was told by a male student that a certain Whitney fainted and had been rushed to the hospital.

We Are Heartbroken: Chrisland Schools React To Whitney Adeniran's Death

CHRISLAND PRESS STATEMENT

The management and staff of Chrisland Schools Limited, with a deep sense of loss, announce the death of our precious student, Whitney Adeniran; whose painful exit occurred on Thursday, February 9th, 2023.

We are heartbroken and distressed. Whitney was one of our Day students who opted not to participate in the inter-house sports match past for reasons we were not very sure of. However, on discretion, we respected her decision to err on the side of caution, because on the 20th of January, 2023, it is in our records that she had complained about a not-too-buoyant health and we immediately contacted her parents. Her father, Mr. Michael Adeniran, came to the school to take her home. We emphasized to her parents to take a critical look at her.

It is instructive to state, that Whitney slumped in public view and not under any hidden circumstances, whatsoever. Our immediate response was to take advantage of proximity to first-aid, by identifying the nearest medical facility to take her to, where the Doctor on duty, administered oxygen and every aid possible on her.

Even as her family made funeral plans for her immediate burial, we differed politely and reiterated the need to establish a scientific verification of the underlying cause of her death, as mandatorily required in circumstances like this. We immediately notified regulatory stakeholders and agencies to allow for a comprehensive evaluation and assessment of the developments.

In spite of the compelling imperatives to fill any information gaps in public space, we stopped short of making any media sensation out of this, because the deceased in question, was a minor and is deserving of our unqualified respect. We also prioritized according respect to the privacy of the family and were with them consistently, to mourn together. This is a painful loss for all of us.

As parents, we feel the deep pain of this loss and our thoughts and prayers, are continually with the family and friends of our beloved Whitney.

As we continue to uphold the sobriety of this moment, we resist any urge to join issues on her treasured memory, in media trends.

As we await the outcome of an independent post mortem process, we remain unwaveringly committed to supporting the family at this critical moment and pray fervently for the fortitude to bear her painful loss.

Whitney Adeniran Autopsy Report: Autopsy revealed my daughter died of electrocution - Mother of 12-year-old Chrisland student who died during the school's inter-house sports says.

Mrs Blessing Adeniran, the mother of a 12-year-old student of Chrisland High School in Ikeja, Lagos state, Desola Whitney Adeniran, who died while attending the school's Interhouse sports held at the Agege Stadium on February 9, has stated that the result from the autopsy conducted on her daughter revealed she died of electrocution

Recall that in a video posted online on February 11 , the distraught mum said she was at the event to watch her daughter participate, but became worried when she didn't see her daughter during the match past as well as other sporting events. Mrs. Adeniran said she decided to go where the students were all kept to check on her child, and when she got there, she was told by a male student that a certain Whitney fainted and had been rushed to the hospital. 

Whitney’s mother said her daughter was not ill prior to the inter-house sports day and when she asked the doctor at the hospital the cause of her daughter’s death, the doctor said it appears to be cardiac arrest.

Reacting to the incident, Chrisland School explained that about two weeks prior, Whitney had complained of ill health and chose not to participate in the school’s march-past.

In a statement released, the school claimed Whitney died in “public view and not under any hidden circumstances,” adding that she was rushed to the nearest medical facility for first aid.

However, Whitney’s father claimed his daughter “died from naked wire from one cotton candy vendor machine after she touched it and she was electrocuted immediately she leaned on it.”

He claimed water was poured on her which killed her immediately.

"I have documented evidence that my child died from electrocution and it was not Cardiac arrest,” he said.

“She was hale and hearty, she was not sick. And let me state it clearly, by the time I saw her corpse, her lips and tongue had already turned black,” Mr. Adeniran told BBC Pidgin

The school's management however, appealed to Whitney’s parents to establish a scientific confirmation of the basic cause of her death before her burial.

An autopsy has since been conducted and the results showed that Whitney died of electrocution, according to her mum.

Mrs Adeniran said her daughter was cut open in order to get the results. She said Whitney was menstruating before her death and her menstrual blood was also taken for tests.

She called out Chrisland Schools for making her family go through the trauma due to the autopsy, when they could have just told them how their child died. She also said all those who “insulted, bullied and humiliated” her with the narrative that her daughter was sick prior to her death, will be judged by God.
